As a citizen, I am greatly concerned with the proposed amendment to the Telemarketing Sales Rule. I, like many people I speak with each day, feel that telemarketing calls at home in the evening and weekends are annoying and an invasion on our personal time. The FTC's proposal would weaken a rule that was designed to give individuals some peace and quite after a long hard day at work. Do not water down this rule! If I want information about products and services, I will seek it out and do not need a person or pre-recorded message giving me "information". The public needs the FTC to protect us from the continued barrage and onslaught from telemarketers. As it is now calls still get through and the FTC reporting procedure is too lengthy and involved to bother reporting. As a result, many people do not bother to report violator. Strengthen the rules rather than weaken them. Your support greatly needed by those you serve to protect to prevent any further invasion of our privacy.
