I was shocked to read about this proposed change to the law limiting telemarketers. Pre-recorded calls are actually worse than live calls. They frequently tie up the phone line, even after the receiptient has hung up. How is a person supposed to opt out of these calls when there isn't a person on the other end? I suppose this would force me to call the company back and tell them to quit calling. This would probably then generate another set of automated calls. For once, I would like to see the government protect the interests of the general public, instead of caving in to the special interest groups. I would strongly encourage the FTC to keep the current legislation the way it is. Kerry Swindle, M.D.
