I am opposed to any change in the current restrictions on unsolicited phone calls. As proposed, customer lists bearing by name could be purchased by anyone and used to dial my home phone to deliver a recorded message. The message is one form of harrassment but just the ringing of the phone for a call that is of no interests to me is just as bad. The FTC and Congress must be responsive to the public concerns and if they go through with the change in the current regulation, it will be one more nail in the coffin of reprsentative government in our society. I fear for our country' s future as the public can no longer trust our government to protect us from the abuse of the free enterprise system that is the bedrock to our freedom. I am a retired senior officer of a major corporation and am fully aware of business practices and ethics that need to be policed for the welfare of our country. I ask that the FTC Comminsioners do their job and not permit changes to the current regulations. Thank you, John W. Slaton
