I work at the store in Cortland 567, and P&C has had 2 stores within a mile apart of each other on this side of Cortland, ever since P&C purchased Grand Union out years ago. How come the FTC didn't shut down one of the stores then. But, it is OK to have a Arbys and a Wendys across the street from one another, they are owned by the same owner ?
I have worked for P&C for over 25 years and all the grocery stores are located out in South Cortland where WalMart super center is to open in October. I see we have been getting the same customers and some new ones being that the other P&C was closed down and liquidated out. We are a grocery store that is located in the City of Cortland. Since Tops has taken over, I have lost 3 dollars per hour, plus time in half for working on sundays, now we only get a dollar more on sundays. I have lost my 5 weeks vacation time, and now I may take a week, and the FTC has decided to have Tops sell us off. There are stores all over Rochester that are close to each other, and Buffalo. This is still a WIN WIN situation for Tops, they are still closer for most of our shoppers to shop. I have been in a union for years, and now everything I have worked for the past 25 years means nothing. I have got to Thank the FTC guys whom made the decision, I hope they have had some time, to come on down to Cortland, and check all the other stores out. There is an Aldis,Save Alot, Shur Fine ( in fact I have heard thru the grapevine that some supervisors and our EX CEO of Penn Traffic may be purchasing the P&C) There is a Shur Fine less than a mile from the P&C in Homer. Does that mean that this will happen all over again and the FTC will shut us down. Tops was nice enough to purchase us, and had no intentions of keeping us from the start, being there was another store in Cortland. But, by having and independant come in and take out the union. The independent will Thank the FTC, they will like that the new owners. Thanks for everything the FTC has done for Cortland. Forcing customers to shop out in larger stores, Super Centers...
Please change your decision on the P&C Riverside Plaza,
Cortland is an low income area, and customers will always shop where the prices are cheaper....
