I am am empolyee of Quality #275 in Lockport, NY. I am a part-time emplyoyee working 30 hours/wk. I have been empolyeed at this location for 11 years. This location is essential for the North-Eastern corner of Lockport as it is 15 miles or more to the next supermarket east on Route 31. Population and demographics play an important role of Who Will Come to Town (or our city) in the retail business. We are in an area that has few choices as it is. Unfortunately Penn Traffic could not stay as competition for my current employer. But Tops did step up and purchase or store saving nearly 70 jobs. This is a plus for those of us in Niagara County, NY. We have Save A Lot and an Aldi's however this is not upscale shopping (No-name brands or Bag your own places of business.)
We need a grocery store that offers all the up-scale type shopping our customers have come to rely on. These people live in the neighbor hood, drove by on their return trips from work, doctors, shopping and entertainment travels. They love this store because it is easy to park and shop(no crowded parking lots) and it is not a Big Box type store, Small enough for the elderly to make it through a total of 20 aisles and large enough to offer Full service Depts. The Deli, Bakery, Dairy, Meat, Produce and Pharmacy offer all the luxuries of any up scale store around. The full time employees Have been employed here from 40-20 years. Some more than that and some slightly less. Our customers, young and old and mad that some one can again walk in after only a few short months and take their favorite store away.
Please consider the lives of the residents, employees, and families before you make any hasty decisions. All our livlihoods depend on this.
