to whom it may concern,As a private investigator and a former ny state police officer having access to certain confidential data is crucial to complete successfuly cases that are of the utmost importance to my clients. While i worked as an officer the majority of those cases were for law breakers of all kinds. In the private investigation bussiness these cases are just as important to the clients if not more so than it was to the prosecuters against criminals. The majority of these clients are at there wits end trying to get the information they need whether that be for finding loved ones or trying to track down creditors who owe them money or for what ever lawful reason. To become a private investigator you have to pass muster. Most of private investigators are former police officers who use there skills to help those who have no other recourse to this information.Any investigator who would misuse this information unlawfully should be prosecuted.I for one had just closed out a case where a birth mother was trying to locate her long lost daughter (who now was forty three years old) I reconected them both and both parties were happy. My point being no other agency or group would have tried to help them.So as far as restricting data to private investigators would be a tragedy to those in need.Thank you john storrow
