It is certainly competitive in getting buyers to buy from you and not other real estate salespeople, but it is also EXTREMEMLY competitive in getting listings. And as the market has gotten tighter in recent years (more buyers, less supply of housing) it has gotten extremely tough. We have people out there offering to get paid $500 plus a cooperating broker's commission, not even providing any service to a seller at all (nor do these practitioners, if you can call them that, provide any additional consultation, service, or protection from liability for the seller/consumer)!!! So to tell a full service Realtor like myself, or other Realtors who are charging different commission rates than myself that the real estate industry is not competetive is completely ignorant and making a totally ludicrous statement.
