Submission Text
I am greatly disappointed that the FTC has compromised the health and safety of people (especially children and young people) by reaching an agreement with Phusion, LLC in the sale and distribution of Four Loco and other similar brands. Just putting a listing of the number of standard drinks in one container on the label will do little (if anything) to curb the use of this dangerous drink. In fact, it could have the opposite effect on underaged drinkers who will simply find it a challenge to obtain and drink one or more of these drinks. Such drinks have rightly been called, "binge drinking in a can."
For years, the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States has been fighting to reduce binge drinking among college and underage drinkers. Now, the FTC is, by its inaction in banning these high-alcohol, large container drinks, will be adding to the nationwide problem of binge drinking.
Please reconsider this agreement. Instead of changing the label, the FTC should ban these drinks alltogether.
