The big box pharmacy's whole objective in pushing this legislation is to make money. They don't care about the client or the patient like the veterinarian does. Human pharmacies have not education regarding veterinary pharmacology. Most don't know that a minute amount of tylenol will kill a cat. They can not educate and protect the consumer better than the veterinarian. This isn't about doing what is best of the client or the patient. They only care about the money. As a veterinarian I have no problem writing a script for a client that requests it, but it is not right that you require me to write a script. Would you require a car mechanic to give his customer instructions on how to buy a cheap transmission from an unknown source with no education on transmissions so the mechanic can install it? It would be ridiculous.
