I echo the comment that "this is a solution witout a problem". We as Veterinarians have an absolute duty to give the best care and medications to our patients. Writting prescriptions is something we do anyway. We must keep in mind, however that not all non-veterinary pharmacies are familiar with drug and adverse reactions associated with many drug combinations. We must be vigilant in educating our Clients about these and other issues. Furthermore black market drug acqusitions are commonplace which should raise concerns about their handling, safety and efficacy. More should be done to assure proper regulation and inspection of these facillities and the safety of their products.
I see no need for this new law.
