Our role as veterinarians is to educate and inform clients about their animals' health and to provide safe and optimal care for their pets. We do not spend our time trying to sell medications. We carry a select few only for convenience and always offer scripts for those interested. Clients are well aware that they have options for obtaining medications. I am concerned that being mandated to do the marketing and advertising for large chain retailers will take up valuable time in the exam room and ultimately cost the clients more money for longer visits and decrease the time we have to educate and inform clients about their animals' health.
