I have owned cats, fish, and turtles, but by far, the most expensive meds have been for parrots. I realize that I own exotic pets and I care for them like my children, but the cost of meds that haven't even been proven to be effective has made me feel like I'm being ripped off.
According to numerous studies, having a pet increases the welfare of the guardian, but when you have to choose to either let the pet die (or be put down) or continue to use very expensive meds to keep the pet's life going for a little longer...well, the heartbreak and guilt is enormous.
Please help in making having a pet an affordable enjoyable experience.
