As a pet owner and consumer, I would like to see on the pet prescription bottle what I see on my own meds:
1. On the label--information about what the pill or tablet should look like. Shape, color, what in printed (or imprinted/scored)on the med--on EACH of the 2 sides.
2. The name of the manufacturer.
3. If the med is brand, or generic.
4. A handout, like people get at a pharmacy, about the med and side effects, and med interactions.
I always go home and "google" my pet's meds just to be safe. Mistakes can be made-- why risk it?
Vets are animal doctors. Yet, this is one area where I think some more work needs to be done, to bring pet care up to the standards of human care.
My pet can suffer serious side effects, and possibly die if given the wrong med.
It is time this should be taken seriously.
