Whenever I see something like this in the works, all you have to do is follow the money trail to find out who initiated it. My guess would be Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, etc., amongst many others.
Our clients didn't just fall off the turnip truck; they know they have multiple options to obtain their medications. Reputable veterinarians, and I believe most of us are, routinely write prescriptions on a daily basis. The minute those $4 generics were being sold, we just told clients to go there for that particular drug.
I don't think we have the right to a monopoly on selling veterinary drugs, but to force unwieldy regulations on us will not serve us or our clients and patients. The added hassle of writing unneeded prescriptions with long explanations will only cost our clients more in time, inconvenience,and money.
