Submission Text
As a veterinarian having prasticed for 30 years, I am writing concerning the pet medications legislation under consideration (H.R. 1406). Veterinarians readily write precriptions when requested by our clients. They are free to fill their prescriptions wherever they wish. I also call in prescriptions to our local pharmacies often. Legislation concerning this practice is redundant and unnecessary. I practice in Louisiana and state law already regulates precribing of veterinary medicines. This law would place unnecessary burdens requring extra paperwork every time a pet requires medication. The dispensing of medication is only a small part of our caring for our patients. I am not in this business to get rich as many other occupations would be much more lucrative. I treat animals because I want to and because that is what I love to do.
