I believe this bill treats veterinarians and veterinary medicine with disregard and disrespect. We, as veterinarians, are constantly striving to provide the highest standard of care for our patients at the lowest possible price for our clients. To suggest that human pharmacies can provide lower cost medications with the same level of expertise is completely erroneous. The human pharmacies ALWAYS charge more for perscribed medications than do veterinary pharmacies. Also, when we dispense medications, we know the animal, the disease and the medications that pass over the counter. The human pharmacies have none of that knowledge. I believe this bill is a travesty. Once again, people with little knowledge making large decicions.
