Submission Text
I believe that if a medication is prescribed to my pet I should have the option to buy the medication where I choose just like I would if the prescription was issued for a human member of my family; however, I have no need or want for the extra paperwork or time spent at the vet for the issuance of a written prescription when I’ve already chosen to fill the prescription at that clinic. The information is typed on the bottle if I need to verify the instructions. If instead the prescription is given to my pharmacy of choice by the vet, I would personally want the information from my vet to ensure what the pharmacy gives me is what was prescribed. That being said, if I am responsible enough to verify the prescription information, I am responsible enough to ASK for the information from my vet when the customer courtesy isn’t offered. If a law must be made regarding the issuance of veterinary prescriptions, then please consider my pet’s health, my time, my vet’s time, and the environment before requiring a written prescription every time a medication is recommended. Please don’t further burden those doing it right, because of the few folks doing it wrong.
