My concern as a veterinarian is that human pharmacists are not educated about veterinary products and cannot council owners about veterinary products. Also, having an RX filled at an outside pharmacy will greatly decrease owner compliance. It will also take unneccessary extra time if I have to write prescriptions in duplicate for every appointment. I am always happy to write RX'es if a client requests medications to be filled at an outside pharmacy, but to do so for every patient regardless of what the owner wishes is tedious.
