Comments:Just like water, food, electricity, natural gas, and now even the telephone; gasoline IS a neccessity in our lives. Without gas we would not be able to live the way that we have been living for the last ~100 years. Becoming a richer and richer country all the while. Gas in not a new cashmere sweater from the Gap, it is NOT a bag full of new cheap toys from the dollar store (though toxic and probably made from gas anyway); and gas is NOT a full set of acrylic nails: all of which are not neccessities in our daily lives! Gas should be regulated and the gas/oil companies should absolutely be investigated for "War Profiteering", price gauging, and monopolistic practices. Remind me again why we are at war? Do we America the strong control most of the oil, and don't give me the tired old excuse about China and Indias oil consumption increasing what we pay at the pump. I want real answers and I want to see real action taken against those who are stealing from the rest of us. And those who think that Capitalism is what is driving the price of oil are being fooled. Isn't Capitalism where you pay for something not because you have to but because you will, and you can charge what you want but people may no longer buy it . . . people paying $3.70/gallon will come to end at some point, but not just because they can, but more because they will have no choice. I have to go to work, I have to drive to work, I have to drive my kids to school, I HAVE TO. What IS the alternative. I can't sell my house now, not in this market. The world that we know and that we grew up in is gone. We are prisoners to gas prices and the gas & oil companies know it. It is the responsibility of the FTC and those in power and each of us citizens to speak up and change this and change it quickly. Where will we be when it is my generations turn to retire?? With price gauging becoming the norm from car insurance; health insurance; gas; and the possibility of no social security this country will be drowning in poor, helpless, sick, old people by the time we retire and the cycle may not come to an end.
