I’ve been a customer of John’s for years now and the man is honest and informed me what was loaded on my computer. He’s helped me out several times when I couldn’t make my payment.
I’ve been in the store when I’ve heard him tell customer that if they steal the computer or report it stolen they can track it and monitor it. So, he did not just tell me this, he informed everyone. I also know the frustration he’s had when he could not find someone and they did not return items. I was in his store a few months back when he asked me about someone I had been a reference for. He was upset, apparently they’d left town and he was out a Big Screen, some furniture, and a computer. He wanted to know if I knew where they moved to. I didn’t, but if I did I would have told him.
What was strange is what he told me next. I asked him if he couldn’t just file theft charges. He laughed, and said that in FL it is a felony not to return rental property but the police refuse to prosecute. He said he can’t even get them to take a police report. Then he goes on to say that with electronics they use to be able to track them but the State sued him over that.
Why would you take a good man like this and help people steal from him? If it’s a crime not to return rental property than you should be going after these people and not a good man like John, I think you are greatly mistaken and wrong about him.
I will never rent from any place else and I do NOT care that John has the ability to monitor me with the webcam, I give him permission and that should be good enough for the FTC.
