I have been a dermatology physician assistant for 10+ years and i have definitely seen an increase in the amount of skin cancers, both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, in the last few years among a much younger age group. When i started working in dermatology it was unusual to see Basal Cell skin cancers and pre-cancerous lesions in people in their 30's, now it is very common. And of these people who are experiencing skin cancers in the age group they almost always have used tanning beds. Parents need to be made aware of the dangers of allowing their daughters and sons to use tanning beds. College students need to be better educated also.
