Comments:
NativeEnergy, Inc. is a marketer of renewable energy certificates (RECs) as a green power option, and carbon offsets from renewable energy and non-electric carbon mitigation projects. NativeEnergy assists developers in the financing of their projects and we buy and market offsets from projects in which have not been a party during the development of the project. NativeEnergy submitted comments to the FTC Project No. P0742-7, following the REC and carbon offset workshop held by the FTC on January 8, 2008. We are submitting substantially those comments as part of the FTC’s inquiry regarding 16 C.F.R. Part 260: Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims: Request for Public Comment and Announcement of Public Meetings. NativeEnergy’s comments are particularly pertinent to “Section B, Specific Issues,” in which the FTC seeks comments regarding the Green Guides’ treatment of renewable energy and offset claims. We thank you for your consideration of the attached comments.
