I just noticed charges from freecreditreport.com (AKA consumerinfo.com, info.experiandirect.com) to my credit card that occurred over the past 20 months. The charges totaled $299.00! My wife pays these bills and assumed this charge was for some on-line game service. That is why the charge was un-noticed by me for so long. I have called and cancelled then asked for a refund. The operator refused. I then emailed and faxed their Consumer Relations Group with a written request for refund with supporting documents. So far I have not received any response. I certainly don't remember a web site that I visited 20 months ago. I have seen these opt-out scams applied to magazine subscriptions before, but I did not suspect the freecreditreport.com because I believed it to be the FACT site. I am shocked that there has been no action by the government so far to deter these large scale scammers. This company operates nationwide and I have seen hundreds of complaints on-line about their deceptive scam. Please use your public power to eliminate this type of opt-out type scam in all consumer areas.
