Comments:Regarding the free credit report website: No vendors should be allowed to advertise their "free credit report" when in fact those "free reports" are tied to a fee. This can be very misleading for someone who does not 1) read well or 2) does not understand the nuances of the marketing ploy. Those web sites that purport to offer a "free credit report" should have to state in 24 font that the web page is not sponsored by the government and there is no free offer. Should be like drug advertising where "side effects" are stated. Thus, the companies should have to note that if you the consumer continue to use their services, you (the consumer) will be assessed a fee. For those agencies that generate the report, one should not have to cruise through lots of web pages to decline the "offers" made by these companies. The three credit-reporting companies have enough power over the consumer as it is....why give them additional opportunities to exploit the consumer.
