I am writing in strong support of the Interagency Working Group's proposed standards for food marketing to children. These guidelines appropriately recognize that the obesity epidemic will be the most severe health problem facing our nation's children, and that food marketing place a significant role in the rise in obesity. The food industry will argue that these regulations will cost jobs, but in a choice between jobs and destroying the health of children, we must chose to promote health. Fortunately, this choice does not exist, as the food industry will be able to maintain profits and jobs through the creation of healthful foods for young people. I urge you to finalize these recommendations as currently proposed.
