I’m concerned about the food and beverage marketing directed specifically at our children. Food and beverage companies target advertising and other marketing programs to kids as young as two. That is why I am in agreement with the proposed guidelines on how the foods outlined in the Preliminary Proposed Nutrition Principles to Guide Industry Self-Regulatory Efforts are advertised to kids.
In addition, since these guidelines are voluntary, I would like for independent reporting to be made available to the public, measuring how the industry is adhering to these guidelines. The food and beverage industry should be held accountable for the health of our nation.adopt them. They are definitely a step in the right direction.
