To Whom it may concern,
We must develop soultions to the marketing practices of the food and beverage industry to the children of the U.S. Obesity is highly prevalent among children, youth and adults and is associated with obesity-related health conditions and diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Our youth are developing dangerous behaviors due to these marketing practices which will result in higher health care costs over the long term.
It should be illegal for food companies to market via video games and in schools. Furthermore, there is no good reason for food and beverage marketers to target children in their marketing when parents are supposed to be making those decisions. By allowing such marketing practices, we have disempowered parents.
I strongly urge you to put thought into the health consequences of your decisions. Ultimately, parents should be making these decisions, not children and youth.
