I think that the "discourage bad habits" section recommending maximum amounts of sugar, fat and sodium will only cause the companies to reduce their serving size to meet the guidelines and not actually reduce the amount in the foods. As a mom, I am far more concerned with artificial colors and flavors in foods and the studies that have shown a definite connection between chemical additives plus sugar causing allergic reactions and behavior difficulties, which can cause long-term psychological damage due to adult responses. I don't allow my children these additives except at birthday parties and sleepovers, but they beg for them due to the ads. The unnatural color of advertized food in this country is shocking.
