"Junk" food is a significant public health threat to the nation and especially to children who can't decide what is healthful or not. Salt, sugar, fat, additives, preservatives, and the abundance of possessed carbohydrates, all linked to the development of diseases, are some of the major components of many unhealthy foods which exist purely as marketing products without benefits, except to satisfy immediate hunger or the psychologically induced cravings that are the goals of mass advertising. Can we as a society eliminate the vehicle of mass-marketing of any form of "junk" foods to a new generation in the hope that the costs of treating sickness from these products will decline. FTC, do the right thing: hold the food and beverage industries accountable as much as possible to correct the overbearing influence that food marketers have on the young and susceptible minds and break one facet of our national dependence on unhealthy products.
