I am elated this interagency has been developed. As a mother of two adult children I have seen the affects of good and poor nutrition. Foods targeted by the media at children for a certainty has an effect on the purchases of children and their parents. In the 1990s McDonalds was running a campaign that included a Barbie or Hot Wheels car in their Kids Meal. Naturally my children wanted the collection. However, being health conscious I didn't want to buy the Kids Meal. So I asked McDonalds if I could purchase the toy. They allowed me to buy just the toy for a time. However, they soon caught on an addiction was not being created with the purchase of a toy. McDonalds would no longer sell me the toy without the purchase of a Kids Meal. Please do all you can to regulate or provide guidelines for the food industry. Our children's lives are at risk. My son is now twenty-three. While he was growing up I tried to control his diet, however he loves fast-food and snacks. As a result, he suffers from high blood pressure. His physician has encouraged him to alter his diet and exercise more. I would appreciate seeing front of the package labeling that gives me an idea of the nutritional quality of the food being purchased.
