The Consent Order simply has the company complying with the law. The notice doesn’t provide for any civil penalty or the recovery of attorney fees that the government incurred. Also, how did this company obtain access to these records? I would recommend that the consent order be delayed until the full impact of the company’s actions have been reviewed. Has any member of the public been harmed by the company’s actions? If so, they should receive some type of restitution.
