while there are many tantalizing uses for Facial Recognition Technology, there are few that do not involve the distinct possibility of violation of individual privacy which is fast eroding in our society already. I favor the use of same with regard to national security only at this time. I STRONGLY encourage the FTC to strictly ban the use of this technology for purely passive marketing purposes. We allow many questionable activities under the justification that it is good for the economy without realizing or at least considering its effect on our society and privacy. It isn't GOOD just because it makes money. I offer the SUBPRIME MORTGAGE fiasco as clear evidence of same.
