I wasn’t very happy today when I went to pay my rental bill and was informed that the discount I was getting because I allowed the installation of tracking software was going away because of a ruling by the FTC? Give me a break. I have no problem with them viewing my webcam, I gave them permission. They agreed to only use it if I reported the computer stolen to prove that I did not have it.
If I’m not doing something wrong then why would I care? Also, I can always put a sticker over the webcam if I thought they were spying on me. Lastly, you’d be an idiot not to notice because my laptop has a light on it that shows me the camera is on. If that light is on and I did not turn on the camera then I know something was up.
To me this just sounds like someone got caught stealing a computer from a rental store and is now claiming to be the victim. People need to grow up in this country and take responsibility for their own actions.
Please don’t allow stores not to use this software it saves me a lot of money.
