Submission Text
Good Day, I will keep it simple. If my spouse has accounts under her name ONLY and she dies I consider those debts to be gone. Her death releases me from the marriage and legally I am no longer married and no longer married to her debts. If the account is joint in nature then there is certainly a reasonable expectation that the debts be collected in an appropriate way. I anticipate that businesses already factor in such eventualities in the cost of doing business.
