My husband paid off several debts this summer -- this fall he went to get a mortgage and all of the judgments he paid off still showed up. Who is required to report these to the credit reporting agencies. It takes no time to get a negative mark on the score sheet - Yet when hard working Americans are trying to improve it -- it is an act of congress to get it reversed. How do we correct the problem - Than the lender asked if he had considered filing chapter 7 because his rate was so low - We had a bankruptcy in 96 with a business and we had a bad lawyer -- many items where not filed in it - How long will this show up on our score? Who do we seek council with to know for sure what is the best solution? I feel everyone such be allowed a free yearly credit rating. It is your information. Why should you be charged for something that is so crucial for you to operate in the society?
