|Agency:||Federal Trade Commission|
|Rule:||Credit Report Freezes|
Comments:Allowing individuals to freeze their credit report gives people a modicum of control in an age of 'required fields' flanked by red asterisks. When every transaction requires a ZIP code, telephone number, or 'valid credit card number for identification verification purposes', this unintended jetsam is seized by pirates of industry and thrashed about the ears of marketers and advertisers in an attempt to enrichen the coffers of those riding sub-standard business models into the night. Even the freezing of one's credit is subjected to a charge, so that they may profit once again on information previously sold.
