Raising the amount takes away the value of the rule. Door to door sales targets every homeowner who opens their door. Without a low threshold you will see more consumers loose more money to the crooks who walk through the neighborhoods. The FTC should be looking a ways to add teeth to the existing rules and make it harder for the crooks to get away with consumers good money.
