Care labels should not change to symbols only. The symbols can be confusing for some, having words on the label makes it easier for the dry cleaner to evaluate. Unless labels say professional before wet cleaning, customers will not understand that the garment needs to be taken to a wet cleaner. They will think it means wash at home. To avoid this confusion, labels should say "professional wet clean". Include a broader range of materials under reasonable basis such as, vinyl, elastic, acetates and beading. A new symbol should be created to represent solvents that are not hydrocarbon or perc.
