Carbon Offset Workshop Comment Project No. PO74207: I believe the information sent to me by Detroit Edison regarding the "Green Currents" program where citizens could add $2.50 to their DTEEnergy bill to help purchase renewable energy was very misleading and dishonest. The Green Currents Certificate I received, states that I "have undertaken to promote the use of renewable energy sources for the benefit of our environment. The purchase you have made will ensure that all of the environmental attributes associated with the production of electricity through new renewable energy resources will benefit your family, friends and neighbors in Michigan, and will further encourage the development of new renewable energy projects and jobs for our state." This is misleading marketing. I have received nothing and Detroit Edison's web site has no information about what kind of renewable energy is being developed, or what renewable source is being used. At this time I feel this may be a scam on citizens concerned about our need to develop alternative sources of energy such as wind or sun, etc. Instead it seems I'm only purchasing renewable energy certificates (RECs). Clear honest disclosure needs to be sent citizens as to the kind of alternative energy being developed and used. I support the Ecology Center comments submitted by David Wright. Sincerely, June Rusten
