Processing of opt-out should be automated, meaning that someone opting out shouldn't have to wait 3 minutes, let alone 3 days or 10 days, before the "marketer" ceases sending out unsolicited mail to an address. They didn't take 3 or 10 days to ADD the address to their list, did they!?!? The standard should also be confirmed opt-in, not opt-out. If merely ONE PERCENT of the businesses in the United States alone decided to send me ONE promotional e-mail every year, I would have to opt out of about SEVEN HUNDRED mailings EVERY DAY. Ergo, opt-out does not scale.
