Just about anything the government sticks its' fingers in is going to screw someone, I read half way down through your bull crap. I decided it would probably better left to merchants that at least have a fundamental knowledge of all your legal-speak; I do however have a couple comments. 1. Something needs to be done to curtail the hundreds of emails I receive each week, it probably will be done with "good software or an email provider" though. 2. I opted out of a tip newsletter, after a couple years I decided to start receiving (and yes I am smart enough to know they plan on trying to talk me into buying something) . There are already enough laws on the books to curtail most behaviors, a little enforcement is what will start curtailing most of it. 3. When it comes to an email advertiser that sends information my way, it is no worse than all the crap that ends up in my postal mailbox each day. That crap pays for postal employees salaries. And while you should all be familiar with doing one serious piece of work (getting elected), then getting paid for it EXTREMELY WELL {I wish I could give myself raises like that.} So should an email advertiser. 4. I believe every piece of commercial email should be labeled exactly where it is from, however if you opted into an email newsletter; it's not quite fair to raise hell with something you gave permission for. You should require every commercial email to have a way of being unsubscribed from the sender's send list. Even if it means the recipient is going to be sorry, "how many times have we deleted something because we thought it was useless crap?" I think before you all start making rules for merchants that operate ethically you should trade your incomes for someone that has done that (operated ethically), yes I know it would be a stretch for you all.
