Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, The proposed requirement for merchants to maintain supression lists puts an unwarranted burden on legitimate businesses. It is perfectly clear that the CAN-SPAM act has done little to put the real spammers out of business. The email system is still full of porn spam and spam for Calais with no prescription - the two most prevalent types of spam I have seen. Loading more requirements on businesses undertaking legitimate e-commerce -- businesses that hate spam as much as anyone -- will still not reduce the amount of real spam coming from spammers who care nothing about the law and have no intention of complying with any part of CAN-SPAM. Respectfully, Phillip Lankford Phoenix, AZ
