Thank you for your attempts to stop spam e-mail. But I am very concerned aboutthe proposed requirement for internet users to have to use suppression lists. I have a website that provides information for persons caring for relatives with Alzheimer's disease. I have found that e-mail and my website are the best methods for getting this information into the hands of the people who need it. I am very concerned that there are so many problems and costs associated with the concept of suppression lists that it could damage my business and prevent people from getting this information. I am asking you to reconsider this and make changes that will not be so drastic. I am currently setting up a free e-mailed newsletter for Alzheimer's caregivers that will only be distributed to people who specifically request it. I have no intention to send it to people who don't want it; in fact, that would be very counterproductive for what I am trying to do. I am concerned that this Act may make it impossible for caregivers to forward my newsletter to other people they believe may want to read it. Requiring me to create and maintain op-out lists or requiring me to keep my e-mailed newsletter from being sent on to other people will seriously impact my ability to send out this newsletter. I don't think that I am the kind of publisher that the "CAN-SPAM" is intended to stop, but it may very well have that effect. I think this is a case where this rule may very well have some pretty drastic unintended consequences for legitimate information providers like myself. Thank you for your consideration of my comments. Sincerely, Greg Irwin Lake Solitude Media, LLC http://www.alzheimersbooks.com
