This proposed regulation is serious overkill for this problem. Here's what happened: a few vitrolic anti-spam activists got everyone all worked up about how their perception of unwanted email is a deadly menace to society. Please. As a ligitimate marketer, I don't mind some spam. It helps me 'feel the pulse' of what's going on out there. And I don't want SOMEONE ELSE telling me what I can or can't read. Three results if this passes - 1) Expensive enforcement nightmare. 2) The REAL spammers will just move to offshore servers - as a lot of them have already done. 3) This will seriously hurt small marketers like me. And what about all those chain letters and ads for male endowment I get in my US gov't post office box? No one seems too concerned about that. Do not pass this legislation. Thanks, Scott Mcnealus
