Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I like so many other people have an online business and I also get very tired of receiving email that I haven’t asked to be sent to me . The ones that bother me the most is the ones that do not have a way for me to remove my name from there list. Any legitimate online business operator only use names of people that want to receive offers or more information by email. We only send out newsletters to people who have requested them and always include a way for them to remove there names if they no longer want to receive from us. I applaud your efforts to curb the problem of unsolicited bulk email. However, I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. They're not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will very likely have that effect. There's also the potential for significant harm to consumers, because of the problem of properly knowing their intent when they unsubscribe from a list. On top of that, these suppression lists could easily fall into the hands of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less. Respectfully, Ronald Dobbs Colorado, USA
