I am currently not involved in the sending of commercial e-mail, and I do get aggravated at spam. I am 70 years old, have far fewer responsibilities than those half my age. I have worked as a carpenter for over fifty years, and am still active. I can and do run ads in the paper, and have no trouble getting all the work that I care for. I am fortunate, many people have no idea what kind of work they are even out of. I am very congnizant of the fact that what we are currently witnessing, is the reality of our fellow citizens attempting to make a living in a declining job market. We all have expenses, and all must eat. We cannot just slam the door in the face of people attempting to feed themselves and their families. With common sense application, and putting yourselves in their place, I am sure that you, my fellow Americans, will arrive at an equitable solution. The indiscriminate shotgunning of millions of e-mails, with an optout message sent to an intentionally clogged box is the primary problem. With the proliferation of auto responders, there is no reason that they cannot be programmed to instantly remove an e-mail address from a list. Thank you for your effort Wendall Dennis
