Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, We support your efforts to reduce the problem of unsolicited bulkemail. We do however, feel great concern about the proposed requirement for merchants to mainain suppression lists. The ensuing problems and costs linked with this idea would cause great damage to both consumers and businesses. We feel we must strongly urge you to consider this matter most carefully. The obligation to use suppression lists will seriously damage many of the legitimate publications available on the internet. We feel those publishers who require permission from the consumer will suffer injury. We are also concerned that these suppression lists could fall into the hands of spammers which could lead to more spam not less. We were very surprised at the potential problems this ruling could involve, and urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation in light of these problems. Respectfully, Donald & Rebecca Boe Georgia, USA
