Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Unsolicited bulk email is terrible, we all agree. But I am concerned that your requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists will turn out to be so unwieldy for small internet marketers like myself that it will put us out of business. I never use spam. All email that I send to a list is opt-in. But what if someone else is promoting a product and they use spam, a customer asks to get off their list, and the same customer is on my list and I send out an email that recommends the same product? This is one possible scenario, but I suspect there may be others that would cause honest non-spamming people to run afoul of the regulations unknowingly. As I near retirement age in a rural small town, the internet marketing business is providing my livelihood. I urge you to think through all the details very closely. And whatever you can do to get the real bad guys has my heartfelt thanks. Thank you very much. Rosana Hart Crestone, Colorado
