Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I would like to ask that you oppose he proposed requirement for businesses to maintain email suppression lists. This would make it almost impossible to stay in touch with our customers and inquirers, and would add an unbearable cost to small businesses like mine who use email rather than costly paper-based mail. Worst of all, it will do nothing to stop SPAM, as we all know that a huge amount of this stuff is generated outside of the US, and won't be stopped by any US legislation. SPAMMERS are easy to identify and stop. This legislation only makes it almost impossible for legitimate businesses (those who clearly identify themselves) to do business. Thanks very much.
