Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Thank you for giving me a voice in your efforts to curb unsolicited bulk email. You have a monumental task to handle and I appreciate your efforts in my behalf. I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. There are just too many problems and costs associated with implementation of such a list, and so much damage that could be done to consumers and businesses, that I want to go on record in opposition to this costly and difficult to implement plan. Requirement of the use of suppression lists will seriously damage the legitimate publications I make available on the net for my readers and customers. I am not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, yet this requirement could very likely do just that. I urge you most emphatically to reconsider implementation of suppression lists.
